At DEW, we nurture sustainable and impactful programs. We offer an incubation hub for ideas to germinate and develop, and when ready, we find the right people, resources and support to take the program to its next phase. We focus on programs that are scalable and can create lasting social or environmental impact.

education-kits, sustainability, joyful learning
DEW Edu aims to change the way we learn to make it more efficient and engaging. DEW Edu develops kits that combine theory and practice in implementing ecological solutions (current kits on hydroponics and solar energy). Kits are small in size and also small in cost. Essentially, DEW Edu provides low-cost learning materials that have the potential for high impact.
DEW Edu is suitable for all learning scenarios; across educational institutes, life-long learning and within development programs.

DEW Edu in Action
DEW Edu’s pilot program in Cox’s Bazar (2020) has been funded by the Richardson Centre. In partnership with IOM, DEW Edu is delivering 6 education programs to young people in Rohingya refugee camps.
DEW Edu's six core modules include hydroponics, solar energy, rainwater harvesting, composting, gardening, and nutrition. Through these modules, refugees are given an opportunity to develop practical skills like growing their own food, solar electrification, how to effectively conserve water, etc. Modules include tools (hardware and specific measurement tools), manuals, and workbooks. All content is made available in digital and hard copy formats. |
technology, harassment-free zones, design, community
ABLEHOOD strengthens communities through technology and education using an app to help neighbours connect, deal with problems such as street harassment, and implement initiatives such as community-wide composting systems. The Ablehood mobile application is currently in testing. The project team is made of a group of volunteers and is currently looking to source funding to help progress this project to the next stage. This application is viable for neighbourhoods of any type around the world. |

BADG'S Approach
BADG first works to understand a company's people skills, financial and non-financial assets, and then to match companies with the best-fit project in locations they operate in.
From our experience working with trusted partners and projects around the globe, BADG understands which projects can have the greatest impact, based on an organization’s unique skills, resources and culture. BADG leverages its established connections with local distributors, allowing CSR program rollout to be both commercially viable and sustainable for ongoing impact. |
10%, Hackathon, skills sharing, community
ACHAAR is a social movement through which we aim at having professionals contribute 10 percent of their time using their unique skills for a social or environmental cause.

Achaar in Action
Achaar is inspiring groups and individuals to use their skills to impact change in the world. As an example, a group of alumni from EMI, an engineering school in Morocco, used the Achaar framework and started to meet weekly to develop a program/activities that would make the best use of their skills and would have a sustainable/scalable impact. Two projects emerged from their Achaar meetings: creating, FORSA, an NGO that supports Moroccan researchers to commercialize their impact innovations. And a second initiative that is in progress - the launch of a Think Tank in Morocco that looks into resilience strategy/approach specific to Morocco.

DEW Bazar in Action
The idea for DEW Bazar was sparked through the DEW Edu program. As we were learning, building and testing onsite in Cox's Bazar, we realised we would benefit greatly from having a central hub with key resources and expertise to optimize our work and better connect with the community.
We are further developing the DEW Bazar concept to enable ‘hubs’ in other locations to support local projects and programs. These ‘hubs’ will serve as innovation labs where project/program collectives can convene. They will be situated in close proximity to the end-user. DEW Bazar services include: a collaborative environment for organizations, stakeholders, and end-users, product design and engineering, technology support, prototyping tools and operators. Lab and field testing, pilot production, advisory and further recommendation to implementation partners, demonstrations and education. |
